Is this the same as Fresno State’s old wrestling team?

No. Fresno State’s NCAA wrestling program was discontinued after the 2020–21 season.

Do you run wrestling Camps?

Not at the present moment, though we hope to in the future.

Do you give scholarships?

No. As a student-run and volunteer-coached program, we do not offer athletic scholarships.

When Does the team practice?

In-season practices are 6:30-8:00pm, Monday through Friday in the North Gym room 201 (Wrestling Room).

Who can join the team?

Any current Fresno State student who meets the requirements can join. Click Here to read the requirements.

Are all practices mandatory?

No. Our practice attendance has more flexibility than most programs, but our team members are still expected to attend regularly.

What style of wrestling do you compete in?

Our main season is folkstyle (college wrestling rules), but our women’s team will also compete in Freestyle in non NCWA events.

What gear do I need to participate?

Wrestling shoes, headgear, and practice clothes are required. Singlets, warm-ups, and competition gear are provided or purchased through the team.

Do I have to pay my own travel costs?

We aim to cover as much travel cost as possible through fundraising and grants, but athletes may be responsible for additional expenses.

Do I need prior wrestling experience to join?

Prior experience or a grappling background is highly recommended.

What are the weight classes?

Men’s - 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197, 235 (NCWA only), 285

Women’s - 103, 110, 117, 124, 131, 138, 145, 160, 180, 207, 240 (NCWA only)

Do you have off-season training?

No. We may have open room, but no structured training as a team during the off-season.
