Bulldogs Open Season at Meathead Movers Invitational
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — October 22, 2022
The Fresno State Wrestling Club opened the 2022-23 season at the Meathead Movers Invitational, using the preseason event to shake off the rust before the official season began.
While the tournament did not count toward wrestlers' official records, it provided the Bulldogs with valuable early-season mat time against junior college and collegiate competition.
Returning NCWA All-American Nicholas Martino picked up right where he left off. Wrestling at 157 pounds, the senior rolled through the bracket with four victories before claiming the tournament championship by forfeit in the finals. Martino finished the day 5-0, recording two falls, two decisions, and a championship to begin his final season with the Bulldogs.
The remainder of Fresno State's lineup also gained valuable experience as the Bulldogs continued preparing for the official start of the season.
