Bulldogs Battle at ELAC Brawl
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — November 19, 2022
The Fresno State Wrestling Club traveled to Los Angeles on November 19 to compete at The Brawl at ELAC, continuing its early-season schedule against a competitive junior college field.
The Bulldogs were represented by Gabriel Martinez (125), Jose Pacheco (165), Ricardo Jauregui (285), and Michael Brent (285), each gaining valuable mat time as Fresno State continued preparing for the heart of its schedule.
Tournament Recap
125 lbs — Gabriel Martinez
Martinez fell to Dylan Atherton (Rio Hondo) before earning a 5-1 decision over Christian Castillo (Victor Valley). His tournament came to a close against Cameron Fernando (Moorpark).
165 lbs — Jose Pacheco
After an opening-round bye, Pacheco fell to Blake Bindman (Cerritos). He rebounded with a fall over Koda Huelitt (Moorpark) before being eliminated by Hassan Alexander (Palomar).
285 lbs — Ricardo Jauregui
Following an opening-round bye, Jauregui dropped a 5-4 decision to Raul Garcia (San Jose State Club). After a consolation bye, his tournament came to an end against Thomas Phillips (Rio Hondo).
285 lbs — Michael Brent
After receiving an opening-round bye, Brent fell to Jacob Lara (Mt. SAC). He battled back with falls over David Aragon (Cerritos) and Jesus Venegas (Cerritos) before being eliminated by Javier Montoya (Palomar).

The following day, team captain Nicholas Martino travels to Bakersfield to compete against NCAA Division I competition at the Roadrunner Open.
